The Hoskinanium Katana was the blade forged by the Blacksmith, Tsukuyomi Jiwasadar, after being gifted the supernatural element by his childhood friend, Iwaro. Unnamed throughout the centuries to come, the metal was later named "Hoskinanium" after Dr. Carlos J. Hoskins, the first and only scientist ever allowed to study the Hoskinanium veins of the Aramar Shard in 1919.

Just as it was crafted by the same man, so was it broken. Tsukuyomi, in an act of agony and rage, smashed the blade against a boulder, fracturing the weapon into three parts, and flung these into the sea below off the cliff of the Lakontey Mountain, next to the Baodhadi Tree.

Over time, the pieces of the katana made their way back to the shores where each was discovered. It is these three pieces—shards—that gave birth to the three clans of Ninava. The Aramar Shard, which allows the Aramar to understand and connect with technology to a supernatural degree. The Daisuke Shard, which provides the Daisuke with the ability to commune with nature. The Atsuko Shard, which empowers the Atsuko to commune with the world beyond the grave, the veil between life and death.
